"ONE bite at a time!" ~Organic~Nourishing~Energizing~

on January 31, 2013

ShoresEdgeThis is the question so many have!
I began “all in” because physically I didn’t feel I had another choice.
I am finding that most moms, however find themselves more dipping
their toes in the water, some wading and just not sure if this “water” is safe to dive into.

So, I have gone ashore to share why the water is “fine” and options to best acclimate to it.

glutenfoodI feel one of the biggest issues we face is GLUTEN.
It pervades most standard American diets and is in so many foods eaten today.

So what’s the big deal!?Jesus&Bread2

Isn’t bread the “staff of life”? Isn’t it the staple in every diet from generations past?

If it is so bad, then why is it in everything and served with every meal?

wonderbread2The answer lies in a few places.
To simplify where the real problem came in was a “wonder”.

When we wanted that white and fluffy bread, scientists created a strain of wheat that was a as Dr. Hyman calls  it” frankenwheat”.

Check out his article HERE.

This wheat was a dwarf wheat that had more proteins. It yielded light fluffy type of bread (after all the nutrients were stripped.)wheat

Our country’s seeds have mostly all been cross-contaminated with these type of wheat strains.
The effect on our bodies is the inability to effectively digest these proteins.

holdinggutinpainOur gut suffers as it causes everything from auto-immune issues from micro intestinal tears and foreign substances leaking into our bloodstreams to life threatening conditions like Celiac Sprue.

Most people I hear don’t feel they have an issue, so continue to dismiss the seriousness of the pervasive gluten insult to the body.
Gluten free signal
The more research I do on gluten, the more I am convinced that gluten should be avoided as much as possible.

This sounds great in theory until you take a look at you and your family’s favorite meals then panic sets in and ultimately it seems too ridiculously hard, so you say “forget it!”.

This is where Moms in Charge comes in.

We are here to walk you through the steps to find out more of “WHY IT MATTERS” , show you what gluten is commonly in and ALTERNATIVES to all your favorite foods that contain gluten.. Even surviving when you are out and about!pathwaystones
